patchwork

I had my first go at some patchwork in the weekend- a patchwork cushion using some of my reds and pinks fabric scraps ...
and an Elmer cushion from the book "Elmer the patchwork elephant" by David McKee.
(Elmer's a bit wonky whoops!)
I really like doing patchwork- it's pretty cool to make a whole new fabric from a lot of little scraps!

PS: If you are an Elmer fan I found some great activities here to go with the book...

That pink patchwork cushion is SOOO pretty! Yes I agree - what a lot of sewing, you must be very patient! And Elmer is super gorgeous too - great job :)

What lovely cushions! I've always had a special place for dear Elmer. Your pink cushion looks so pretty and very neat. It must have taken a while to stitch all those tiny squares together.

That patchwork cushion looks very professional ... and it would be a great way to get rid of scraps.

'Playschool' ... actually I wonder if you get Playschool on tv in New Zealand? Well, they read an Elmer story the other day ... it was one I'd never heard.

Elmer is a lovely elephant! You like all the best characters - Snoopy, Miffy, Elmer! All class!

I love the Elmer cushion, I'll have to take a look at the activities! My toddler was in a gallery with me the other day, pointed to an abstract painting which looked a bit like Elmer and said "Patchwork". The curator was so impressed that she invited us both to an exhibition opening!
